Preparing for 2012 – Option for Cage Egg Producers:

ADAS along with Defra are planning a series of meetings for cage egg producers in England to highlight future legislative changes and to be discuss options available after 2012, when the use of conventional cages will be banned throughout the EU.

The meetings will cover:

• What the legislation requires
• Options available for egg production after 2012, with reference to both enriched and non cage systems
• A summary of cost implications of various egg production options, based on the use of either converted or new buildings
• Issues associated with moving from conventional cages, including planning considerations.
